Everything about Gemma and Christian’s New York elopement was incredibly special. I love people who aren’t afraid to break with tradition and have a wedding that is a reflection of who they are…who they are as individuals and who they are as a couple.
Gemma initially contacted me about their wedding plans to tie the knot at Christian's parent's house in France, however, that plan was changed and I got the email to say they had planned to have a surprise elopement in New York instead and not tell anyone back home. Needless to say, I was practically packing my bags.
Gemma started her day getting ready at The Standard and Christian at The Jane NYC before moving on to the Church of St Francis Xavier for their ceremony. Having Gemma and Christian along with just three close friends share their vows in this huge beautiful church felt so quietly intimate. Afterwards, we took a short walk along the New York streets and parks before heading for dinner and drinks. No cakes, no first dance, no formalities...just the best night out with great food and drinks with friends.
Here are a few words from Gemma and Christian about their day:
"New York was an easy decision for us. It was the scene of our first holiday and we love the buzz of the city. It was pretty special to be returning to get married. Who would have thought it on that first trip!
The ceremony was the most special part of the day. After the ceremony, we took to the streets of New York for some photos. The enthusiasm, well wishes and positivity from passersby was infectious! A magical time.
After dinner, we moved to a hotel in Soho to continue the celebrations. We had no plan after drinks and ended up in a Korean Karaoke bar in Soho until the wee hours. It was such fun and a testament to not over planning and to leave some room for spontaneity on the day!"
